The benefits of running a care coordination programme are becoming increasingly clear in terms of the potential to enhance the patient’s dental experiences as well as their perception of the quality of their dental care. To reach its full potential care coordination needs to be embedded into the practice’s operational strategy. This course is for dental teams planning to introduce care coordination services and will help them to create well- led, effective and caring care coordination services.
This programme aims to:
- Determine how care coordination can enhance the perceived quality of care
- Identify the roles and expectations of dental professionals in care coordination
- Plan care coordination resources
- Identify ways to audit and evaluate care coordination results
- Highlight the effective use of extended duties dental nursing in care coordination
Learning Outcomes participants will be able to:
- Produce a structured plan for care coordination with clear aims and objectives
- Manage associated costs and benefits of care coordination
- Develop a practice policy for care coordination
- Enable the team to develop care coordination roles within Scope of Practice requirements
Objectives
This training will look in depth at the design of a care coordination programme which will run effectively and efficiently, making the best use of resources and offering patients excellent care. It will explore the benefits to patients and dental teams of care coordination services identify potential pitfalls and ways to negotiate those using case studies and action learning techniques.

Following this programme participant will conduct a reflective review to determine what they have their learned from the session and how this will impact on their understanding of how care coordination services contribute to high-quality patient experiences, this will be summarised with an action plan to be implemented in their workplace

The course provides 16 hours of eCPD Criteria B and C
The course fee includes 3 months of tuition. Following this additional bungles of tuition can be purchased if required at £50 per month
Entry Requirements
• I understand that this course requires study at level 3. At this level, students need to have English Functional Skills at Level 1. If my tutor advises me that my functional skills are not at this level I will be advised by my tutor on the required course of action. Which may involve additional functional skills training at my own cost.
• I can produce coursework in the Microsoft Word Format
• I certify that the work I submit for my assignments will be my own work. I realise that to make a false claim of authenticity is malpractice and could be reported to the General Dental Council and my registration could be at risk.
