
The Advanced Skills for Dental Practice Managers
Course Duration 12 months
This Quality Assured programme is ideal for those practice managers who do not enjoy assignment writing and want to develop a range of management skills and gain recognition for their work. Assessment is through Blended Learning Activities and pre-written assessment tasks covering six units
The Advanced Skills for Dental Practice Managers course is a Quality Assured course. The course requires study comparable to Level 3 complexity. It is a non-regulated qualification designed and delivered by Glenys Bridges and Partner Practice Pathway and accredited by the Open College Network- who work with the course providers to develop tailor-made units that meet industry requirements and are suitable for face to face, blended or remote learning
Learners will receive a certificate from a national awarding organisation as proof of their achievement of the following six unit
Unit 1 - Communication for a Productive Dental Team
Aims to:
- Consider a range of communication requirements to enable teams to achieve high standards of patient care.
- Recognise ways to make team meeting productive
- Understand the role of staff support measures for the development of the team and individuals
Objectives
Managers will create policies and procedures to ensure communication processes are effective, efficient and sustainable.
Outcomes
Participants will recognise the role of communication and team support processes for building a productive
Unit 2 – Managing Personal and Professional Development
Aims to
- Consider the role of personal and professional development for managers
- Identify team roles and know how to enable each team members to contribute their best work
- Understand the role of reflective leaning for service development
Objectives
Managers will create a learning environment to meet professional and regulatory standards
Outcomes
The work in this unit will enable managers to create a working environment conducive to staff retention and career development
Unit 3 - Leadership and Management Skills
Aims
- To consider leadership and management in dental organisations features
- Identify the impact of the styles of leadership and management
- Evaluate leadership and management roles
Objectives
Managers will build a team hierarchy with senior and supervisory management roles to create a rewarding and fulfilling workplace and a successful business
Outcomes
Participants will develop their leadership and management skills and be able to respond to the demands of the business and its people
Unit 4 - Effective Resource Planning and Management
Aims
- To identify project development skills
- Consider techniques for assessing the needs of the local market
- Determine regulatory standards and workplace safety measures
Objectives
Managers will plan and deliver a project using a range of project management and marketing analysis skills to recognise how the project meets identified needs
Outcomes
Participants will understand the needs for the services and produced offered to meet the needs of the local community- internal and external markets
Unit 5 - Quality Measurement and Improvement Management
Aims to
- Understand the underpinning principles of quality management
- To apply quality principles to assess a workplace process
- Know information governance measures and apply them in practice management measures
Objectives
Managers will be able to apply the principles of Total Quality Management to all the practices polices processes and procedure to create continuously improving services
Outcomes
Participants will implement quality management principles to create a practice that conforms to compliance requirements
Unit 6 - Budget Management
Aims to
- Consider a range of ways to create and manage budgets
- Understand terminology used in financial management
- Recognise how to use financial and business planning, to ensure a business is profitable
Objectives
Managers will understand the role of the business plan and how to govern leading and lagging financial measures to create a flexible and profitable business
Outcomes
Participants will develop a product and pricing scheme to ensure the business achieves the required return on investment
Glenys Bridges and Partner Practice Pathways provides a wide range of support materials for learning, including online portal, Zoom, Teams or telephone tutorials, blended learning – in which learners can select computer-based study options such as home learning,
Each of the programme's six units offers 60 learning hours, consisting of tutorials, independent research and assignment writing.
Distance learners can join this rolling course at any time. Each student will have an allocated tutor who will mentor them throughout their course.
Each learner begins their programme with a learning styles assessment and will work with their tutor to select a learning programme best suited to their needs; this will involve one-to-one coaching, learning activities and videos to deliver course content.
Students upload their work to the GBPP student pathway, where feedback is posted within two working days.
Course Fee can be paid in 4 instalments.
Enhanced ECPD Criteria A, B, C and D
This six-unit course is delivered over 12 months, with the course fee including 12 months of tutor support. After this period, additional monthly packages of tutor support can be purchased at a fee of £100 plus VAT per month.
We offer the option to pay the course fee in four instalments
• I understand that this course requires study at level 3. At this level students need to have English Functional Skills at Level 1. If my tutor advises me that my functional skills are not at this level I will be advised by my tutor on the required course of action. Which may involve additional functional skills training at my own cost.
• I have arranged to ringfence time for my tutorials- 30 mins per week and study time of at least 2 hours per week
• I can produce course work in the Microsoft Word Format
• I certify that the work I submit for my assignments will be my own work. I realise that to make a false claim of authenticity is malpractice and could be reported to the General Dental Council. In which case my registration could be at risk.
