The importance of becoming a dementia-friendly practice cannot be overemphasized. Since official statistics (Ref 1 Alzheimer’s Disease International ) reveal that There are currently 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, one in three people currently over 65 will die with dementia, add to this the fact that an estimated 50% of the people living with dementia in England have not received a formal diagnosis, meaning that many people with symptoms of dementia are unsupported in managing their condition
This programme aims to
- Raise awareness of dementia friendly dentistry
- Identify dementia friendly roles
- Understand aspects of treatment planning dementia patients
- Highlight how to create a plan to become dementia friendly
Outcome
Using the course materials, the team can create an action plan to become a dementia-friendly practice
